Two assailants carried out a horrifying terrorist attack during a gathering to mark the Jewish festival of Hannukah, resulting in the brutal deaths of multiple individuals. Authorities have confirmed that at least 16 people lost their lives and 40 others sustained injuries in the tragic shooting incident that occurred at Bondi Beach on Sunday evening. Terrifying videos captured the chaos as people frantically fled from the two gunmen who opened fire around 6:45 PM local time.

The victims of this terror attack, which targeted a crowded group of families celebrating the festival, are gradually being identified hours after the deadly assault. Among the casualties was a 41-year-old rabbi from London, Rabbi Schlanger, who was tragically killed alongside others. Described as a loving family man with five children, Rabbi Schlanger and his wife had recently welcomed a baby boy.

Rabbi Schlanger’s cousin, Rabbi Zalman Lewis, reminisced about their upbringing in Temple Fortune and their involvement in the Kinloss synagogue in Finchley. He fondly remembered Rabbi Schlanger as a vibrant, optimistic individual who dedicated himself to helping and encouraging others.

Another heartbreaking account from the tragic event revealed that a Ukrainian Holocaust survivor was fatally shot while trying to protect his wife, Larisa Kleytman. The couple, who had attended the celebration at Bondi Beach for many years, found themselves in the midst of the sudden violence that claimed innocent lives.

President Emmanuel Macron identified Dan Elkayam, a member of a local football club, as one of the deceased victims. The club expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Elkayam and condemned the senseless violence that took his life at Bondi Beach.

Further casualties included a retired police officer, Peter Meagher, who was remembered as a beloved figure by his rugby club. The club mourned the tragic passing of Meagher, who was working as a freelance photographer at the Hanukkah event where the shooting occurred.

The devastating toll of the attack also included a young girl, Matilda Poltavchenko, just 10 years old, who was described as bright and spirited by her grieving relatives. She was among the victims of the senseless violence that unfolded during the Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach.

The range of ages of those who lost their lives in the Bondi Beach attack varied from 10 years to 87 years old, as confirmed by the New South Wales Police. The community continues to mourn the loss of these individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups who were tragically taken in the violent incident.
