Police authorities have identified Naveed Akram, 24, and his father Sajid Akram, 50, as the perpetrators who opened fire on a crowd celebrating Hanukkah at a footbridge in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Witness accounts and social media posts describe how the victims bravely attempted to disarm the gunmen before being fatally shot. One witness hailed the man as a hero for his courageous act in trying to save lives during the attack.

Eyewitnesses recounted the chaotic scene, with one local resident named Jenny recalling the moment she witnessed the struggle between the gunmen and the brave individuals. Amid the chaos, a young Australian man discovered the couple lying among the aftermath of the tragedy, with one victim already deceased.

The victims of the shooting have started to be identified, with notable individuals among them, including a 10-year-old child named Matilda and other diverse members of the community. Several victims remain in critical condition across different hospitals in Sydney.
