Time is running out to apply for the Warm Home Discount, which provides a £150 reduction on electricity bills. Eligibility is based on receiving specific benefits by August 24. Residents in England and Wales automatically receive the discount, while in Scotland, only those getting Guarantee Credit are automatically enrolled. For other benefits in Scotland and all cases in Northern Ireland, manual application is necessary. Failure to receive the discount requires reaching out to the scheme by February 28. Energy bills are expected to decrease this spring, with Ofgem’s price cap predicted to drop for typical dual fuel homes. The new price cap announcement is scheduled for February 25, covering April 1 to June 30. The cap applies to standard variable rate tariffs, with charges based on energy usage. Despite the cap, bills are still determined by consumption levels. Stand charges and unit rates are capped, indicating the expected annual cost for average energy usage.
