The tornado was captured swirling above the village of Verzeille, located just a few kilometers east of Pomas, late Monday, as shown in a video sourced from social media and verified by Reuters. Many houses in its path suffered shattered windows.
In the town of Preixan, situated a few kilometers north of Pomas, the tornado was also documented moving through, as depicted in a social media video verified by Reuters.
Cleanup efforts are underway in Pomas, with residents assessing the damage and clearing debris from the affected areas. Images show a man inspecting the wreckage of a damaged house, debris scattered inside the Saint Julien et Sainte Basilisse church after its roof collapsed, fallen trees in a cemetery, and individuals covering a damaged building’s roof with a tarp. Additionally, pedestrians are seen navigating past a fallen tree amidst damaged homes in Pomas.
