McIntosh completed the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle in 4 minutes and 28.01 seconds, with Forrester coming in nearly three seconds later to secure the silver medal. Agostina Hein of Argentina claimed the bronze.
McIntosh expressed her satisfaction with the race, mentioning that while she believed she could have done better, she was pleased to secure the victory for Canada. In another event, McIntosh contributed to Canada’s success by helping the women’s 4×200 freestyle relay team secure a bronze medal. Despite Australia and the United States taking the top two spots, Canada’s team, led by Mary-Sophie Harvey, posted a time of 7:52.74 to secure the bronze.
