The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a resounding 85-38 victory at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, supported by Syla Swords who contributed 15 points to the team’s success. Canada took an early lead of 23-4 at Arena Astros and extended it to 46-11 by halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, is set to run until Sunday.
In their previous match, Canada defeated Senegal with a score of 72-57, and their upcoming game is against the host country, Mexico, scheduled for Thursday. The ultimate winner of the tournament will secure a place in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
