Chad Dupuis, a long-time Alberta Parks employee, shared a humorous anecdote about a peculiar encounter with wildlife in the forest where he lives and works. As the maintenance supervisor at Carson Pegasus Provincial Park, Dupuis described a typical busy day preparing camping sites for new visitors under the hot sun. After a fulfilling day’s work, he returned to his Winnebago, looking forward to a barbecue dinner, only to discover his steaks missing.

Initially puzzled by the disappearance of his meal, Dupuis considered various scenarios, including the presence of a black bear that had visited his campsite previously. However, upon further investigation inside his camper, he noticed a hole in the window screen, indicating a smaller animal had snuck in and taken the steaks.

Reflecting on the incident, Dupuis acknowledged the importance of respecting wildlife in their natural habitat, learning to expect the unexpected even after years of forest living. Upon hearing a growl under his bed, he cautiously handled the situation and witnessed a pine marten, a member of the weasel family, dart out of his camper before climbing a nearby tree.

Amused by the unexpected dinner thief, Dupuis embraced the quirky encounter as a memorable story to share with his colleagues, accepting that his dinner plans had been foiled by a furry intruder.
