The Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2026 induction ceremony featured notable figures such as former NBA player Jamaal Magloire, ex-Carleton Ravens men’s head coach Dave Smart, and Olympic flag-bearer Miranda Ayim. Magloire, who played 12 seasons in the NBA and was the first Canadian to play for the Toronto Raptors in 2011, achieved all-star status in 2004 with the New Orleans Hornets. He later became an assistant coach for the Raptors and now serves as the vice-president of the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
Smart led the Carleton men’s program to great success, securing 13 U Sports championships during his tenure, establishing a dynasty. Ayim, a former captain of Canada’s senior women’s national team, had the honor of being a co-flag-bearer alongside rugby sevens player Nathan Hirayama at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
The class of 2026, unveiled on July 2, also includes players Michael Meeks, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, and Teresa Kleindienst, as well as coaches Peter (Doc) Ryan, official Janice Deakin, and builder Dr. Andrew Pipe. This 10-member class will be officially inducted at a ceremony in St. Stephen, N.B.
