Sky and Freeview have long been leading the TV market in the UK, but a new competitor, Freely, emerged in 2024 and has quickly gained popularity. With over one million households already onboard, Freely offers more than 50 live channels without the need for antennas or satellite dishes.

Recently, Freely introduced its Freely Spotlight Channels, providing additional entertainment to viewers at no extra cost. These channels can be accessed through a standard Wi-Fi connection and will be available on channel 31 and channels 90 to 99, as well as on Freely-enabled devices with CTV OS partners.

V, the company behind the VIDAA OS smart TV platform used in Hisense TVs, is the launch partner for Freely Spotlight Channels. This collaboration will bring curated channel selections to the Freely TV Guide, enhancing the visibility and credibility of selected channels within the UK’s regulated TV landscape.

While the exact content for the Spotlight Channels has not been disclosed yet, more information is expected closer to the launch date. Deep Halder, Chief Commercial Officer at Everyone TV, emphasized the focus on creating long-term value for partners and ensuring easy access to free, trusted TV content for UK audiences in the streaming era.

Freely, operated by the team behind Freeview and Freesat, offers a broadband-based TV service that eliminates the need for antennas or complex installations. Viewers only require a compatible TV or set-top box and a stable Wi-Fi connection to access over 50 live channels, on-demand content, personalized recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the ability to pause live TV.
