UK households relying on Freeview for television content are advised to perform a quick retune on their equipment following recent channel changes. Freeview has announced updates to some channels, including name changes and shifts in their positions within the TV guide. While the alterations are not extensive, a swift retune will ensure that TVs are fully updated.

Freeview confirmed the update, stating that on May 20, 2026, certain broadcasters will be adjusting their channels. Viewers are encouraged to retune their TVs to maintain an up-to-date channel lineup and TV guide.

Among the changes, two channels have undergone name changes. Hobbycraft TV, previously on channel 97, is now known as Shop Unlimited, while Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been replaced by Great! TV +1. Additionally, there have been adjustments to channel numbers, with Great! Movies relocating from channel 61 to channel 62, and Great! TV +1 moving to channel 61.

Freeview emphasized that channels on its platform are continually evolving, with individual providers deciding to move, add, or remove channels. The platform strives to offer audiences a diverse and engaging content selection.

If the updates are not automatically reflected on your TV, manual retuning may be necessary. To retune your TV, follow these steps:
– Press the menu button on your TV or set-top box remote.
– Select “set-up”, “installation”, “update”, or a similar option.
– If prompted for a password, try “1234” or “0000”.
– Choose “first-time installation”, “factory reset”, “full retune”, or “default settings”.
– Confirm the deletion of existing channels if asked.
– The retune process should start automatically.
– Save any channels found during the scan if prompted.
