Skiing icon Lindsey Vonn suffered a crash during the women’s downhill alpine skiing final at the Winter Olympics. Vonn, aged 41, returned to action just nine days after injuring her left anterior cruciate ligament.

Her comeback took a tragic turn as she crashed early in her run, requiring immediate medical attention. The distressed Vonn, audibly sobbing and visibly in pain, was swiftly attended to by medical staff and later airlifted from the scene, presumably to a nearby hospital.

Reacting to the incident, five-time Olympic skier Graham Bell expressed shock while providing commentary on BBC Two. He remarked on Vonn’s unfortunate crash, highlighting her determination and the audience’s stunned reaction.

Former British downhill skier Chemmy Alcott, who competed alongside Vonn, emotionally reflected on the situation, expressing her disbelief at the turn of events and the challenges Vonn faced due to her previous injury.

Vonn, who had previously been hospitalized for a ruptured ACL, had made a remarkable recovery to compete in the Winter Olympics. However, her final run ended in disappointment after the crash, leading to a temporary halt in the competition.

Following Vonn’s accident, another skier, Cande Moreno, also suffered a crash on the course’s steepest section, requiring evacuation due to a knee injury.

In other news, Sky has reduced the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the upcoming season, offering significant savings and a wide range of live sports coverage, including Premier League matches. Sky will broadcast over 200 live Premier League games in the next season, an increase from the previous year.
