A teenager in Florida made a desperate plea for her life after witnessing her stepfather kill her mother in front of her. Despite being shot in the face, the 13-year-old miraculously survived and is currently in critical but stable condition at the hospital, able to communicate.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd shared that the girl recounted the traumatic events of that night, where she begged her stepfather to spare her life after witnessing him fatally shoot her mother. Despite her plea, she was shot as well, leaving her and her siblings orphaned.
The tragic incident occurred late on a Monday night when the stepfather, Jason Kenney, had a confrontation with his wife, Crystal Kenney, over a television show. The argument escalated quickly, leading to Crystal instructing her son to call 911 before she was fatally shot.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the mother dead and the teenage girl injured but alive, thanks to a bullet that miraculously missed vital areas. The third child in the house, an infant daughter, was unharmed. Jason fled the scene and later took his own life at his father’s property.
The children, now without parents, were placed in the care of their maternal grandparents. The tragic incident has left the community in shock and disbelief, with authorities investigating the circumstances surrounding the violent event.
