The Original Factory Shop has recently entered administration, appointing administrators from Interpath Advisory. This move has put 137 stores and 1,180 jobs in jeopardy. While the physical stores are operating normally, the online operations have been suspended as administrators evaluate the company’s options.
According to administrators, The Original Factory Shop has been struggling with high cost inflation, increasing labor expenses, and reduced sales due to decreased consumer spending. Compounding its issues are challenges related to its third-party warehouse and logistics provider. Established in 1969, The Original Factory Shop was acquired by investment firm Modella Capital in the previous year.
Rick Harrison, the managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, expressed regret over the company’s situation, attributing it to ongoing trading difficulties. He emphasized the commitment to work closely with the dedicated team of employees to maintain store operations and explore potential solutions for the business in the upcoming weeks.
