A man suspected of brandishing an axe triggered a fire at a petrol station, causing chaos in Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire. Captured footage displayed cars and a fuel pump ablaze at the BP Garage. Nick Lawrence, a nearby resident, expressed worry about his safety and property as the flames spread towards his home. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police confirmed the arrest of a man for alleged arson with intent to endanger life in connection with the incident. The authorities responded to reports of a disturbance at the BP Petrol Station, where a man was spotted wielding an axe on the forecourt before a fire erupted, engulfing vehicles and petrol pumps. Emergency services, including the fire department and ambulance service, intervened, leading to the apprehension of the suspect with burn injuries. Thankfully, no other casualties were reported. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service disclosed that the fire affected two cars and a pump at the station, with firefighters swiftly extinguishing the flames using main jets. Following the incident, the road closure was lifted as normalcy was restored.
