EE has unveiled an enhanced version of its Scam Guard service to combat the escalating threat of scams. With cybercriminals employing ever-evolving tactics to swindle individuals, millions of pounds are lost daily in the UK due to fraudulent activities. The upgraded Scam Guard aims to provide improved protection by blocking a higher number of potential attacks directed at mobile phones.

Available to all EE pay-monthly mobile customers for a monthly fee of £2, the updated service offers enhanced security measures for subscribers concerned about the rising scam incidents. Despite the additional cost, EE assures customers of significantly heightened protection.

Since its initial launch in 2024, Scam Guard has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the latest upgrade, EE anticipates doubling this figure over the next year, demonstrating the efficacy of the revamped service.

Central to the new Scam Guard is AI Triple-Lock Protection, a trio of digital safety features powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine to safeguard customers. The features include Safe Email, which delivers round-the-clock proactive scam protection for email accounts, Safe SMS that utilizes advanced AI to identify complex scams in text messages, and Safe Web that employs AI to prevent customers from falling victim to online scams while shopping or browsing, preemptively blocking malicious websites.

Moreover, the upgraded Scam Guard introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to upload screenshots of suspicious texts, emails, websites, or social media messages for instant evaluation. Additionally, Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring monitor customers’ online activities for any suspicious behavior, promptly alerting them to take necessary action.

Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile, EE, emphasized the importance of combating fraud amid increasing AI-driven scams. EE remains committed to enhancing cybersecurity measures and supporting customers by leveraging innovative solutions and industry alliances to protect against evolving threats.

By continually adapting to new challenges, EE aims to provide customers with advanced cyber protection through its enhanced Scam Guard service.
