A TikTok personality, known for his pranks, assaulted a shopper by biting and punching him in a store, displaying aggressive behavior akin to a “wild animal.” Gavin Davies, aged 38, was labeled a “monster” by the victim after the incident at a corner shop in Merthyr Tydfil on August 14. Davies, who had just been released from prison and recently engaged, had consumed alcohol prior to the altercation, as revealed in court.
Operating under the name Ruthless Roofers on TikTok with over 31,000 followers, the defendant frequently shares content on social media. His posts often feature staged scenarios like collapsing in restaurants, diving into canals, and playing pool with a crutch.
During a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, it was disclosed that the victim and his stepdaughter were present at the shop when Davies stormed in, creating havoc and expressing a desire to return to prison. Subsequently, Davies assaulted the victim by punching him multiple times and biting his nose before both individuals fell to the ground amidst the chaos, causing damage to items in the store.
The victim sustained various injuries, including persistent pain in his wrist and thumb, as mentioned in his victim personal statement. Describing the harrowing experience, the victim emphasized the traumatic impact on his life and vividly recalled his stepdaughter’s distress during the assault. He characterized Davies as a “monster” and recounted feeling like he was fighting for his survival.
Davies admitted to charges of assault causing bodily harm, affray, and criminal damage. In his defense, Davies’ lawyer, Jeffrey Jones, explained that his client was inebriated due to his recent release from prison and engagement. Jones also mentioned an earlier altercation Davies had been involved in before the store incident, attributing his behavior to being in a distressed state.
Despite highlighting Davies’ charitable contributions and participation in community events, the sentencing Judge Paul Hobson condemned his actions as “utterly disgraceful.” Labeling the behavior as animalistic, the judge sentenced Davies to 20 months in prison and imposed a five-year restraining order.
