A male nurse in Dortmund, Germany, aged 32, faces charges for multiple sexual assaults on patients, with one alleged victim as young as 14 years old. The accusations involve five patients, four females, and one male, aged 14, 28, 35, and 43, while the age of the fifth victim remains undisclosed.
The incidents reportedly occurred between April 2017 and August 2025. Four of the alleged assaults happened while the victims were in an induced coma or under general anesthesia, whereas the incident involving the 14-year-old girl occurred while she was conscious. According to a court spokeswoman cited in the Bild newspaper, the patients were described as “helpless and unconscious.”
The man is also accused of filming some of the incidents, with police discovering images and videos during a raid on his home in July. The investigation was initiated after suspicions of possessing child pornography arose.
Three of the rapes took place at Essen University Hospital, while another occurred at a separate medical facility. The nurse had worked at various hospitals in the North Rhine-Westphalia region, including Munster, Gelsenkirchen, and Bochum, with placements obtained through a temporary employment agency. He also had a part-time position at Dortmund Hospital.
Following a search operation, authorities seized computers, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones containing extensive data. The man was taken into custody, facing charges including rape, sexual abuse, and possession and distribution of child pornography.
A spokesperson for Essen University Hospital mentioned that the nurse had a clean criminal record when hired. Under German law, suspects’ identities are usually protected, with police refraining from naming them except in exceptional cases.
