Surrey County Council is offering free £300 supermarket vouchers to hundreds of households in need of cost of living assistance. This initiative falls under the Household Support Fund, which aims to assist vulnerable families by providing financial aid to local authorities.
Residents of Surrey County Council can apply for the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher scheme if they are facing challenges in affording basic necessities like food. These vouchers can be used at various supermarkets, including Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose.
To be eligible for the scheme, individuals must be over 18 years old, reside in Surrey, maintain household savings of £2,000 or less over a 90-day average, and have an annual household income below £27,007.50 before tax deductions.
Applicants are required to disclose their income details and any household benefits received. Voucher applications open monthly, with the next round starting on February 3. If you miss the current application window, the next opportunity to apply is on March 2.
Nottingham City Council is also providing £100 vouchers to low-income individuals or those on benefits. The distribution of these vouchers has already commenced, with a completion target set for February 28, 2026.
Households chosen to receive vouchers will be selected randomly, regardless of the application submission time. Even those who received a voucher from the council in April 2025 are eligible to apply.
Additionally, Wakefield Council is distributing food vouchers to low-income households receiving council tax support. Pensioners benefiting from Council Tax Support received a £70 voucher in November, with further vouchers planned for other households.
Furthermore, families receiving Council Tax Support will receive £50 vouchers starting December 15, while all other eligible households will receive £70 vouchers between December 3 and December 12.
For households struggling with energy bills, Blackpool Council is offering £200 to eligible households of one or two individuals and £300 to qualifying households with three or more individuals.
To access this financial support, individuals must demonstrate financial hardship and challenges in bill payment, and provide recent bank statements for all household members.
