Conor McGregor has expressed approval for the UFC’s upcoming event at the White House, even though he is not slated to compete in it. Initially rumored to headline a fight on President Donald Trump’s front lawn against Michael Chandler on June 14, McGregor is now expected to make his return to the octagon the following month. UFC CEO Dana White recently unveiled the White House fight card, featuring Ilia Topuria defending his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje in the main event. Additionally, Alex Pereira is set to challenge Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight belt in the co-main event. McGregor, although not part of the lineup, shared his enthusiasm for the card on social media, labeling it as “great.”

In an earlier interview, the former two-weight world champion disclosed that he was awaiting confirmation for his next fight. McGregor mentioned his eagerness to compete in the White House event against Chandler, emphasizing the anticipation for a thrilling showdown between them. However, plans shifted, and McGregor hinted at a potential matchup during International Fight Week. Despite expressing understanding for the situation, McGregor conveyed his readiness to return to action and hinted at a welterweight comeback. He revealed his preparation and eagerness to accept any opponent offered, hoping for a favorable contract soon.
