Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has issued a stark warning about the potential for a ‘global conflict’ if the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war persists. Lukashenko, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasized the urgent need to de-escalate the conflict to prevent severe repercussions for Europe and the global community.

Recent developments have seen Ukraine and Russia engaging in cross-border drone attacks despite considering new peace proposals from the United States. Ukrainian forces targeted key Russian oil facilities in a strategic move to disrupt Moscow’s financial support for the conflict.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is reportedly reviewing US proposals offering security assurances in exchange for flexibility on peace negotiations. The attacks on Russian oil installations, particularly the Slavyansk Oil Refinery, are part of Kyiv’s efforts to impede Putin’s military operations in Ukraine.

Further drone strikes were reported in Russian territories, causing significant damage to oil installations and infrastructure. The escalating retaliatory strikes between the two nations have led to widespread destruction and casualties, with Russian forces intensifying attacks on Ukrainian cities.

As tensions rise, Ukraine is contemplating accepting US security guarantees and exploring the possibility of designating the disputed Donbas region as a ‘free economic zone’ as part of potential ceasefire agreements. The situation remains fluid as both sides navigate complex negotiations and military actions in the region.
