A young boy from Calgary who was rescued following a near-drowning incident in a river in British Columbia is currently recovering in the hospital, with his family expressing concern over his damaged lungs.
Paul-Angelo Warren, aged nine, was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3 when he failed to resurface after going underwater. Maria Warren, his mother, mentioned that bystanders at the beach quickly acted to pull him out of the water shortly after he disappeared.
According to a statement from the RCMP, the boy got trapped against fallen deadwood by the river’s strong current before being rescued and administered CPR upon reaching the shore. Authorities suspect that he might have been submerged for up to 10 minutes.
The child is currently receiving care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, with his family staying close to him. Maria emphasized her constant presence by his side to ensure that he sees her and hears her voice as soon as he regains consciousness.
