The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that an Enstrom F-28A helicopter and Enstrom 280C helicopter were involved in the mid-air collision around 12:25 p.m. on Sunday. Both aircraft only had the pilots on board at the time of the accident. Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel stated that responders arrived at the scene following reports of an aviation crash at approximately 11:25 a.m., where one helicopter was seen ablaze.
Tragically, one person lost their life, while another was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe injuries. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board have been alerted and will conduct a thorough investigation into the crash. Social media footage captured one of the helicopters spiraling out of control before the crash occurred.
