Tiger Woods has recently entered a plea of not guilty following an arrest stemming from a rollover crash involving two vehicles in Florida. The renowned 15-time major golf champion is facing charges related to driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to undergo a lawful test.
Reportedly, the 50-year-old Woods overturned his vehicle while attempting to pass a tow truck on a narrow road, resulting in the dark SUV ending up on its side. Subsequently, he chose not to undergo a urinalysis despite registering a 0.00 reading on a breathalyzer test.
Following the incident, Woods was obligated to spend eight hours at Martin County Jail but has since been released and returned home. The legal representation for Woods will be handled by attorney Douglas Duncan, as per initial reports by TMZ based on court records.
These events unfolded shortly after former President Donald Trump shared his thoughts with the New York Post regarding Woods’ situation, expressing optimism about Woods’ well-being. Trump highlighted that Woods tested negative for alcohol and emphasized the physical challenges Woods faces due to various health issues affecting his back and leg.
Addressing the circumstances of the crash, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek clarified that there were no injuries resulting from the incident and that there were no indications of alcohol involvement. Budensiek detailed the sequence of events surrounding the crash, noting that the Jupiter Island Police Department initially responded to reports of the rollover before requesting assistance from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arriving at the scene, investigators observed signs of impairment in Woods, leading to his arrest and subsequent transport to Martin County Jail.
Notably, both Woods and the other individual involved in the crash escaped without any physical harm. Budensiek emphasized that despite Woods’ medical history and the surgeries he has undergone, the assessments conducted at the scene supported the decision to arrest him based on suspicion of impairment.
