While it is customary for politicians to deliver Christmas messages, US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks on Father Christmas have sparked controversy. On Christmas Eve, Trump interacted with children tracking Santa’s journey with NORAD but diverted the conversation to the disputed 2020 election. This event led to a violent Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. Even after his reelection, Trump seems fixated on his past electoral loss.

During a call with a child at Mar-a-Lago, Trump made unsubstantiated claims about winning Pennsylvania three times. He continued tying the Santa tracker discussion to the election, emphasizing his affinity for Oklahoma. These exchanges were met with criticism on social media, with many finding them awkward and self-centered.

In a previous incident in 2018, Trump questioned a child’s belief in Santa, suggesting skepticism at the age of seven. His Christmas Day message also struck a negative tone, targeting “the Radical Left Scum.” This divisive rhetoric was echoed on the official Trump Twitter account.

These interactions have not been well-received, with critics accusing Trump of overshadowing the festive spirit. Despite the holiday season, Trump’s messages have stirred controversy and drawn backlash from various quarters.
