Fallon Sherrock has advised darts players to push through challenges and avoid using illness as an excuse for subpar performances on the grand stage. While Michael van Gerwen has been sidelined from Premier League matches due to illness, Sherrock lacks sympathy for his struggles.
Van Gerwen recently withdrew from three Premier League nights and showed signs of struggle upon his return against Gerwyn Price. Sherrock, however, seemed dismissive when discussing Mighty Mike’s recent difficulties.
Speaking on Double Tops, Sherrock emphasized the importance of giving your best despite adversities like Van Gerwen’s illness. She highlighted the challenges women face, such as dealing with menstrual cramps, to illustrate the need for perseverance in sports.
Sherrock stressed the necessity of showing up and performing well, even when not feeling one’s best, as it is an inherent part of being a professional darts player. She expressed skepticism towards players who attribute poor performances to feeling unwell.
Despite his setbacks, Van Gerwen maintains the third position in the Premier League standings. In contrast, Luke Littler, the reigning world titleholder, has encountered a tough start to the competition, currently ranking seventh out of eight players before the upcoming Cardiff match.
Sherrock remains optimistic about Littler’s potential comeback, believing he is strategizing and gearing up for a strong performance in the later stages of the league. She anticipates that Littler will surprise many with his resilience and determination to succeed.
