Ahmed al-Ahmed, hailed as a hero for his brave actions at Bondi Beach, where he was shot while disarming an attacker, has broken his silence.
The 43-year-old bystander sustained five gunshot wounds during the incident on Sunday evening, where he managed to wrestle the weapon away from one of the assailants. Following his courageous intervention, al-Ahmed turned the firearm on the attacker, compelling him to flee. New South Wales Premier Chris Minns lauded his actions, stating they had “preserved numerous lives.” The Premier shared a photo with al-Ahmed on Facebook to commend his valor on Monday night.

Additionally, 42 individuals were either hospitalized or sought medical attention, with 22, including two police officers, still receiving medical care as per the latest updates.
In an interview with Turkish state broadcaster TRT World from his hospital bed, al-Ahmed expressed his gratitude, stating, “I appreciate the efforts of everyone.” Speaking in Arabic, he requested prayers from his mother for his recovery, emphasizing the challenging ordeal he faced. Describing his injuries as severe, his former immigration lawyer, Sam Issa, revealed that al-Ahmed had undergone multiple surgeries for the five gunshot wounds.
