A tragic incident unfolded at Bondi Beach when a victim lost his life in a horrific antisemitic attack carried out by two gunmen, a father, and his son. The victim’s loyal dog stayed by his side until the end, as captured in heartbreaking footage. The attack occurred during a celebration of the Jewish festival of Hanukah, resulting in the deaths of at least 16 individuals, including one of the gunmen who was shot by law enforcement.

A Bernese Mountain dog named Maui was seen in distress at the scene, refusing to leave her deceased owner’s side amidst the chaos of gunshots. Videos circulating online showed Maui standing vigilantly near the victims, with one of the gunmen nearby brandishing a weapon. Efforts were made on social media by Anne-Marie Curry, founder of Arthur and Co Pet Detectives, to reunite Maui with her owners.

It has been confirmed that Maui’s owner was a casualty of the attack, although the identity remains undisclosed. Reportedly, the owner was accompanied by his wife and another dog, a small white poodle, when the gunmen unleashed their violence. Maui has since been safely returned to the victim’s wife, who survived the ordeal, with the help of the local community and online groups specializing in lost and found pets.

A Facebook user, claiming to be a friend of Maui’s owner, expressed condolences for the deceased victim and praised his gentle nature. The tragic event, which occurred on December 14, involved the father-and-son perpetrators, Sajid and Naveed Akram, aged 50 and 24 respectively, who committed an act of terrorism resulting in multiple casualties, including notable individuals like Holocaust survivor Alexander Kleytman and others.

Following the attack, 42 individuals were hospitalized, including Naveed, who remains in critical condition. Investigations revealed that the perpetrators had recently traveled to the Philippines, with recovered evidence linking them to ISIS-inspired motives. The aftermath of the incident left several in critical condition, with ongoing efforts to stabilize the injured.
